Fresh and Local from Ferris Groves

Each season in Florida provides a new and exciting opportunity. In Citrus County, the winter months are well-known for strawberry, blueberry, and certain types of orange harvesting.

If you would like to step back in time and take advantage of the local offerings in Citrus County, head on over to Floral City, Florida. Just south of Inverness, this small town has some gems, including Ferris Groves.

The groves themselves were established by L. G. Doc Ferris in 1930 and not long after, the retail store was opened. If you are driving down Highway 41, you will see the building on the side of the road.

As you enter the tent, you can smell the oranges, strawberries, and other citrus fruits available for purchase by the bushel.

Within the retail store is a plethora of local snacks, sauces, honey, jams, beef, and baked goods.

After shopping, make sure to grab a milkshake, slice of cheesecake, or strawberry shortcake to snack on out on a picnic table near the Withlacoochee State Trail!
